Answer: The criteria for a good score will vary depending upon the nature and the degree of difficulty of the Mock Tests. The UPSC Previous Years Papers also show that the cut-off score has declined in recent years as the difficulty level of the exam increased. However, to give a general idea, a score of 100-110 and above is usually considered a good score. This implies that a student has read the study materials thoroughly and is able to apply the knowledge in tests. At this point, frequent revisions and thorough analysis of the tests given to rectify any mistakes done is all that is required.
Answer: Mock Tests are crucial for UPSC Prelims since they test a student’s ability to apply knowledge and adhere to strict time management. A student will benefit from being able to evaluate their preparation and identify any errors they may be making. Tests are a form of reinforcement technique which guides students to put to use his/her knowledge in exams. It offers a sense of familiarity with the test itself and guarantees appropriate coverage with sufficient review. For example, almost 60 questions were reflected from Vajiram and Ravi PowerUP Prelims Test Series 2023 in the UPSC Prelims 2023 exam. This helped the students in covering important areas for the exam.
