Though not widely known in mainstream history, he is remembered as a heroic and just king in regional traditions.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About King Prithu Rae<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>King Prithu Rae Background<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>King Prithu Rae,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> also known as Raja Prithu Rae, was an important ruler of the <\/span><b>Kamrupa kingdom (present-day Assam) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">during the early <\/span><b>13th century.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He is remembered as a brave and capable king who protected his region during a time of invasions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He belonged to the <\/span><b>Khen dynasty,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which claimed descent from <\/span><b>Narakasura,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a legendary figure in Indian mythology. This connection gave the dynasty a sense of cultural and traditional importance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Khen rulers were <\/span><b>devoted to Goddess style=\"font-weight: 400;\">King Prithu has not been widely highlighted in mainstream Indian history, but he holds an important place in local traditions, inscriptions, and regional stories of the book <\/span><b><i>Maharaja Prithu: The Unsung Warrior King<\/i><\/b> <b><i>Who Annihilated Bakhtiyar Khalji<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2021, presenting him as a forgotten hero.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">British historian Wolseley Haig also mentioned that Prithu defeated <\/span><b>Hisan Uddin Iwaz,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a ruler associated with the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/delhi-sultanate-architecture\/\" target=\"_blank\">Delhi Sultanate<\/a><\/strong>, which further highlights his military strength.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Prithu and Bakhtiyar Khilji\u2019s Invasion<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bakhtiyar Khilji was a powerful military commander under <\/span><b>Muhammad of Ghor.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He was among the early leaders who tried to expand<\/span><b> Turko-Afghan rule<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> into eastern parts of India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Around <\/span><b>1205-1206 CE, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">after attacking regions like Nalanda, Khilji planned to expand his empire further by moving towards Tibet through Kamrupa.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, when his army entered <\/span><b>Kamrupa, they faced strong resistance and were completely defeated.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Many local accounts say that Khilji was badly injured during this failed campaign.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This defeat is considered very important because it was one of the earliest successful resistances against <\/span><b>Turko-Afghan invasions in Northeast India,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> showing the strength of local rulers like Prithu.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Evidence and Historical Records<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Kanai Varasi rock inscription in Assam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provides evidence that the invading Turkish forces were destroyed in 1206 CE, supporting the story of this victory.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Historical texts like the Persian chronicle <\/span><b>Tabaqat-i-Nasiri <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and inscriptions
