


{"id":10118,"date":"2026-05-03T12:13:03","date_gmt":"2026-05-03T06:43:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=10118"},"modified":"2026-05-04T17:32:46","modified_gmt":"2026-05-04T12:02:46","slug":"svamitva-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/svamitva-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"SVAMITVA Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>SVAMITVA Scheme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rural property ownership scheme, SVAMITVA, is emerging as a potent tool for formalisation of residential land, improving the financial standing of gram panchayats, and making a positive impact on the rural economy, says a survey by IIM Ahmedabad. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About SVAMITVA Scheme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a <\/span><b>central sector scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the <\/span><b>Ministry of Panchayati Raj.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched nationwide<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on National Panchayati Raj Day, 24th April <\/span><b>2021, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">after successful completion of the pilot phase of the scheme ( 2020-2021) in 9 states.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>empower rural citizens with property cards<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, enabling access to credit, dispute resolution, and better planning.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides a<\/span><b> \u2018Record of Rights\u2019 to village household owners<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the<\/span><b> issuance of legal ownership cards (property card<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s\/title deeds) to the property owners <\/span><b>by mapping land parcels using drone technology.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mapping shall be done across the country in a phased manner. It generates <\/span><b>high-resolution and accurate maps to confer ownership property rights.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme seeks to achieve the following <\/span><b>objectives:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To bring <\/span><b>financial stability<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the citizens in rural India by enabling them to <\/span><b>use <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">their <\/span><b>property as a financial asset for taking loans<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and other financial benefits.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Creation of <\/span><b>accurate land records for rural planning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Determination of property tax, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which would accrue to the Gram Panchayats (GPs) directly in States where it is devolved or else add to the State exchequer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Creation of survey infrastructure and GIS maps<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that can be leveraged by any department for their use.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To support the preparation of a<\/span><b> better-quality Gram Panchayat Development Plan <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(GPDP) by making <\/span><b>use of GIS maps.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To <\/span><b>reduce property-related disputes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and legal cases.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Eligibility<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The applicant <\/span><b>should have<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a <\/span><b>property in a rural inhabited (Abadi) area.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Exclusions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><b>Agricultural lands <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are not covered under this scheme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Implementing Agency:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is implemented by the<\/span><b> Survey of India (SoI)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the <\/span><b>National Informatics Centre Services Inc.
