


{"id":10179,"date":"2026-05-15T11:49:50","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T06:19:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=10179"},"modified":"2026-05-15T13:06:06","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T07:36:06","slug":"tughlaqabad-fort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/tughlaqabad-fort\/","title":{"rendered":"Tughlaqabad Fort"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Tughlaqabad Fort Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite being monitored by Delhi High Court and occasionally even by Supreme Court, work on a survey to weed out encroachers and preserve the historic Tughlaqabad Fort appears to be going around in circles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Tughlaqabad Fort<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is located in <\/span><b>South Delhi.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>built <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">by the<\/span><b> founder of the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/the-tughlaq-dynasty\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tughlaq Dynasty<\/a>, Ghiyas-ud-din-Tughlaq in 1321.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ghias-ud-din Tughlaq, also <\/span><b>called Ghazi Malik<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, was the<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">slave who <\/span><b>served Sultan Mubarak Khilji <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the Khilji Dynasty.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ghazi Malik <\/span><b>drove away the Khilji ruler<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>built his city of Tughlaqabad<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the fort.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Established as the 3rd historic city, the fort was<\/span><b> later abandoned in 1327<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after a curse given by Nizamuddin Auliya.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Tughlaqabad Fort <\/b><b>Features<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fort is divided into<\/span><b> three parts:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>main city area with houses <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">built<\/span><b> along a rectangular grid between its gates,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>citadel with a tower<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at its highest point known as <\/span><b>Bijai-Mandal,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>adjacent palace area<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> containing the royal residences.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fort is an<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">irregular rectangle gigantic stone structure, with walls that are 10-15 m high and covers an area of more than 6.5 km.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0Crowning the walls are <\/span><b>battlement parapets and bastions.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fortified city contained <\/span><b>artificial lakes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and other <\/span><b>rainwater tanks.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the southern side of the fort is the<\/span><b> tomb of Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which was <\/span><b>built in 1325 AD by the ruler himself.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Ghiyas-ud-din&#8217;s successor,\u00a0 Muhammad Tughluq (1325-51), added the small fortress of \u2018Adilabad<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the hill<\/span><b> south of Tughluqabad, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with which it shares the main characteristics of construction.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source<\/b><strong>: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-in\/news\/india\/tughlaqabad-fort-survey-work-gets-stalled\/ar-AA231xqN?apiversion=v2&amp;domshim=1&amp;noservercache=1&amp;noservertelemetry=1&amp;batchservertelemetry=1&amp;renderwebcomponents=1&amp;wcseo=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>MSN<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tughlaqabad Fort was built by the founder of the Tughlaq Dynasty, Ghiyas-ud-din-Tughlaq in 1321.
