


{"id":101891,"date":"2026-07-20T12:02:37","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T06:32:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=101891"},"modified":"2026-07-21T13:50:40","modified_gmt":"2026-07-21T08:20:40","slug":"electronic-gold-receipts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/electronic-gold-receipts\/","title":{"rendered":"Electronic Gold Receipts"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Electronic Gold Receipts Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) introduced Electronic Gold Receipts (EGRs) which is a new exchange-traded segment for buying and selling gold in electronic form.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Electronic Gold Receipts<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Electronic Gold Receipts (EGRs) are <\/span><b>exchange-traded securities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> representing ownership of <\/span><b>physical gold (specified purity)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stored in <\/span><b>SEBI-regulated vaults.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They can be <\/span><b>held electronically in a demat account,<\/b> <b>bought and sold in different denominations <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the bourse and converted into physical gold via prescribed process.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Buying and Selling of Electronic Gold Receipts<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Like shares, EGRs follow a <\/span><b>T+1 settlement cycle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the receipts credited to the buyer\u2019s demat account the next trading day.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Retail investors, jewellers, bullion traders, refiners, institutional investors and other eligible market participants can buy <\/span><b>EGRs via registered stockbrokers.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Investors need both trading and demat accounts to buy and sell EGRs.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The EGRs are available in <\/span><b>two purity standards:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 999 (99.9% pure gold) and 995 (99.5% pure gold).
