{"id":10215,"date":"2026-06-17T12:18:22","date_gmt":"2026-06-17T06:48:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=10215"},"modified":"2026-06-18T13:30:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T08:00:12","slug":"ins-tarkash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ins-tarkash\/","title":{"rendered":"INS Tarkash"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>INS Tarkash Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indian Naval Ship Tarkash, a stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, recently arrived in Port Victoria, Seychelles, during its ongoing deployment in the South West Indian Ocean Region.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About INS Tarkash<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a state-of-the-art <\/span><b>stealth frigate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Indian Navy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the second of three <\/span><b>Talwar-class guided missile frigates.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Designed and built in Russia,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Talwar-class guided missile frigates are modified version of the Krivak III-class frigate\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>built by the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad, Russia.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>commissioned <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">into Indian Navy service on 9 November <\/span><b>2012 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at Kaliningrad and joined the Western Naval Command on 27 December 2012.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>INS Tarkash <\/b><b>Features<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Displacing 3,850 tonnes, it has a length of 124.8 m, a beam of 15.2 m, and a draught of 4.2 m.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With maximum speeds in excess of 30 knots, a <\/span><b>range of 4,500 miles or 30 days <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and a <\/span><b>complement of 253 personnel,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the ship is powered by four gas turbines.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been equipped with a <\/span><b>weapon sensor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that enables it to address threats in all dimensions.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It uses <\/span><b>stealth technologies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a <\/span><b>special hull design<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to ensure a <\/span><b>reduced radar cross-section.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can <\/span><b>board one Ka-28 Helix-A antisubmarine helicopter or one Ka-31 Helix-B airborne early warning helicopter.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It carries cutting-edge weaponry, which includes advanced surface-to-air missiles, <\/span><b>100 mm calibre guns (artillery)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, close-range guns, torpedoes, rocket launchers, and associated fire control systems.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also equipped with <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/brahmos-missile\/\" target=\"_blank\">BrahMos missile<\/a>s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">instead of the Klub-N missiles, which makes it different from the earlier flight of Talwar-class ships.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>News<\/b><strong>:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/defence.newsd.in\/military\/navy\/ins-tarkash-escorts-seychelles-coast-guard-vessel-zoroaster-home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>DEF<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>INS Tarkash is a state-of-the-art stealth frigate of the Indian Navy.
