The mission provides skill training, apprenticeship opportunities, digital education, and entrepreneurship support through schemes like PMKVY, JSS, NAPS, and ITIs. It aims to create a skilled workforce that can meet the demands of modern industries and contribute to India\u2019s economic growth.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>National Skill Development Mission Objectives<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The major objectives of the National Skill Development Mission are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Enhance Employability:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Improve job opportunities for youth through industry-focused <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/skill-development-schemes-and-policies\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>skill development<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Promote Vocational Education:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Expand vocational and technical education across the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Support Entrepreneurship:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Encourage self-employment and startup culture among trained candidates.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Increase Industry Participation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Promote partnerships between industries and training institutions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Provide Digital Literacy:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Equip youth with digital, financial, and technological skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Expand Apprenticeship Opportunities:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Increase on-the-job training through apprenticeship programs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Develop Skilled Workforce:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Create a workforce aligned with national and international industry standards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Reduce Skill Gap:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Bridge the gap between education and employment requirements.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Promote <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/inclusive-growth\/\" target=\"_blank\">Inclusive Growth<\/a>:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ensure participation of women, SCs, STs, minorities, and rural populations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Major Schemes Under National Skill Development Mission<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several flagship schemes operate under the National Skill Development Mission to provide training and employment opportunities across sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>1. Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pradhan-mantri-kaushal-vikas-yojana-pmkvy\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)<\/strong><\/a> is the flagship skill development scheme of the Government of India launched to provide industry-relevant skill training and certification to youth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme offers <\/span><b>free short-term training<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), entrepreneurship education, and soft skill development.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Training programs are aligned with the <\/span><b>National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and focus on improving employability in various sectors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than <\/span><b>1.64 crore candidates<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been trained and certified under PMKVY up to 31 December 2025.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>2. Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS)<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) focuses on vocational training for non-literates, neo-literates, women, school dropouts, and economically weaker sections in rural and urban areas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme promotes <\/span><b>self-employment and livelihood generation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through community-based skill training programs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JSS has recorded strong participation from <\/span><b>women and rural communities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, helping improve household income and employment opportunities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Around <\/span><b>34.14 lakh persons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been trained under the JSS scheme from 2018-19 to 31 December 2025.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>3. National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS)<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>NAPS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> promotes apprenticeship-based training by providing practical industry exposure and on-the-job learning opportunities to youth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme encourages industries and employers to hire apprentices and improve workforce productivity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the updated system, the government transfers financial support directly into apprentices\u2019 bank accounts through the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/direct-benefit-transfer\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> method.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than <\/span><b>51.30 lakh apprentices<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been engaged under NAPS from 2016\u201317 to 2025\u201326.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>4. Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) and ITIs<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>CTS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provides vocational and technical training through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across India in various engineering and non-engineering trades.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ITIs focus on practical skill development, industry-oriented training, and employment generation for youth.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The number of ITIs has increased significantly from <\/span><b>9,776 in 2014 to 14,688 at present<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, improving access to vocational education.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the ITI Tracer Study, around <\/span><b>63.5% of ITI graduates<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> secured employment or self-employment opportunities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>5. PM SETU Scheme<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability through Upgraded ITIs (<a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pm-setu-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\">PM SETU<\/a>)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> aims to modernize vocational education infrastructure in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme has an estimated outlay of <\/span><b>\u20b960,000 crore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and will be implemented over a period of five years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the scheme, <\/span><b>1,000 ITIs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be upgraded through a <\/span><b>Hub-and-Spoke model<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> consisting of 200 Hub ITIs and 800 Spoke ITIs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PM SETU focuses on improving training quality, modern equipment, industry partnerships, and employability in emerging sectors.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>AI and Digital Skills Under National Skill India Mission<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The National Skill Development Mission focuses on developing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/artificial-intelligence\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Artificial Intelligence (AI)<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, digital technology, and Industry 4.0 skills to prepare youth for future employment opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Training is provided through schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, ITIs, and other skill development centres across the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Courses are aligned with the <\/span><b>National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and are designed in consultation with Sector Skill Councils and industry experts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The mission offers training in modern technologies such as <\/span><b>Artificial Intelligence (AI), <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/machine-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\">Machine Learning<\/a>, Data Science, <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/cloud-computing\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cloud Computing<\/a>, Internet of Things (IoT), DevOps, and Industry 4.0 technologies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Candidates are also trained in <\/span><b>web development, mobile application development, CRM operations, database management, IT helpdesk services, and digital marketing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>National Skill Development Mission is a Government of India initiative aimed at improving employability &#038;
