Prime Minister\u2019s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) has facilitated the establishment of more than 4 lakh micro-enterprises and generated employment for over 36 lakh people during the 15th Finance Commission cycle.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Prime Minister\u2019s Employment Generation Programme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>central sector scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> launched in <\/span><b>August 2008.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>credit-linked subsidy scheme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> administered by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to create <\/span><b>self-employment opportunities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for first-generation entrepreneurs and promote sustainable livelihoods in the <\/span><b>manufacturing and services sectors,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> especially in rural areas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Implemented By:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The scheme is implemented by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/kvic\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Khadi and Village Industries Commission<\/b><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Eligibility for Prime Minister\u2019s Employment Generation Programme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any individual above <\/span><b>18 years of age is eligible.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will be <\/span><b>no income ceiling<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for assistance for setting up projects under PMEGP.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beneficiaries should possess at least <\/span><b>VIII standard pass educational qualification<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for setting up of projects <\/span><b>costing above Rs.10 lakh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the manufacturing sector and above Rs. 5 lakh in the business\/service sector.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Self Help Groups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (including those belonging to BPL provided that they have not availed benefits under any other Scheme), institutions registered under the <\/span><b>Societies Registration Act, 1860, Production Co-operative Societies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and, Charitable Trusts are also eligible for assistance under PMEGP.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Existing units<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that have already availed government subsidy under any other scheme of the <\/span><b>Government of India or State
