{"id":10251,"date":"2023-04-29T07:40:15","date_gmt":"2023-04-29T02:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=10251"},"modified":"2025-03-29T19:06:37","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T13:36:37","slug":"national-manufacturing-innovation-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-manufacturing-innovation-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"National Manufacturing Innovation Survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About National Manufacturing Innovation Survey (NMIS):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a joint study by <strong>the Department of Science and Technology<\/strong> (DST) and <strong>the United Nations Industrial Development Organization<\/strong> (UNIDO)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim of the survey: <\/strong>To evaluate the innovation <strong>performance of manufacturing firms<\/strong> in India.<\/li>\n<li>It had <strong>two specific components<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Firm-level survey:<\/strong> It captured data related to types of innovations and innovative measures taken by firms, including the process of innovation, access to finance, resources, and information for innovation etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sectorial System of Innovation (SSI) survey:<\/strong> It mapped the manufacturing innovation system and its enabling role in achieving innovations in firms.<\/li>\n<li>The SSI study measured the convergence or divergence of current policy instruments in select five key manufacturing sectors important to the <strong>Indian economy \u2013 textiles; food &amp; beverage; automotive; pharma; and ICT.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The first National Innovation Survey <strong>was held in 2011.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key Facts about United Nations Industrial Development Organization<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>specialised agency<\/strong> of the <strong>United Nations<\/strong> with a unique mandate to promote dynamize and accelerate industrial development.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It provides support to its 171 Member States through <strong>four mandated functions<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>Technical cooperation<\/li>\n<li>Action-oriented research and policy-advisory services.<\/li>\n<li>Normative standards-related activities<\/li>\n<li>Fostering partnerships for knowledge and technology transfer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>India is a member<\/strong> of this organisation.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Innovation?<\/h3>\n<p>Innovation refers to the creation and implementation of new ideas, products, or processes that bring about significant changes in society, business, or the economy.
