It focuses on developing quality infrastructure, improving trade, and supporting people-centric sectors like health and education in a sustainable and inclusive way.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Asia Africa Growth Corridor<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The partnership between India and Japan plays an important role in maintaining a free, open, and rules-based global order.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the past two decades, both countries have worked together to strengthen cooperation in defence, economy, and global issues.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even in a world that is becoming more divided and competitive, India and Japan continue to support inclusive and cooperative international relations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Asia Africa Growth Corridor (AAGC)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was launched in <\/span><b>2017<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to promote sustainable and inclusive development in Africa, which is becoming increasingly important globally.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Asia Africa Growth Corridor Features<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>AAGC connects ports in Japan (Yokohama and Tokyo)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and agriculture<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People-to-people partnerships<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The corridor is important because Africa is gaining global attention, with many countries investing there, including the United States, Europe, and China through its Belt and Road Initiative.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">China has invested heavily in Africa, and Russia has also expanded its defence presence, which creates competition for influence.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this situation, <\/span><b>AAGC helps India and Japan balance China\u2019s influence,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> strengthen their presence in Africa, and support a rules-based global system.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Interests for India in Asia Africa Growth Corridor<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The AAGC is an important initiative for India as it helps in <\/span><b>strengthening India\u2019s presence in Africa <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and building long-term strategic partnerships with African countries through sustainable development and cooperation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A major interest for India is to act as a strategic <\/span><b>counterbalance to China\u2019s growing influence in Africa, especially the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> led by China, by nations,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> especially in sectors like pharmaceuticals, information technology, agriculture, and manufacturing, which helps India increase trade, investment, and style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rather than just a business partner, focusing on capacity building, skill development, education, and technology transfer to support Africa\u2019s long-term self-reliant
