sanctions against Indian entities and again sought to designate the country as a \u201ccountry of particular concern\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an<\/span><b> independent, bipartisan U.S. federal government commission<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> established under the <\/span><b>International Religious Freedom Act of 1998.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">USCIRF <\/span><b>monitors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>universal right to freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) abroad;<\/b> <b>makes policy recommendations to the President, Secretary of State, and Congress;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>tracks the implementation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of these recommendations.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">USCIRF&#8217;s <\/span><b>nine Commissioners <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are <\/span><b>appointed by either the President or Congressional leaders <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of each political party, supported by a non-partisan professional staff.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">USCIRF <\/span><b>issues an annual report<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that assesses the <\/span><b>US government\u2019s implementation of IRFA, highlights \u201cCountries of Particular Concern<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d engaging in severe religious freedom violations, documents the conditions of religious freedom in many countries, and provides policy recommendations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">USCIRF <\/span><b>recommendations are not binding <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the U.S. government.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It<\/span><b> uses international standards<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to monitor religious freedom violations globally.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Article 18<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/udhr\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Universal Declaration of Human Rights<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> affirms that:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><b>Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and religion;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or
