Press freedom in India has <strong>gone from \u201cproblematic\u201d to \u201cvery bad\u201d<\/strong>, with the country <strong>slipping 11 ranks<\/strong> since the 2022 report.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Except for Bangladesh (163), Myanmar (173)<\/strong> and China (179), <strong>all other neighbours have a better rank than India<\/strong> &#8212; Bhutan (90), Nepal (95), Sri Lanka (135), Pakistan (150), Afghanistan (152).<\/li>\n<li>India was positioned <strong>169 in political indicators<\/strong> while it was 144 in legislative, 155 in economic, 143 in social indicators and <strong>172 in the safety of journalists<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Norway is ranked first<\/strong> for the seventh consecutive year.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key Facts about Reporters Without Borders (RSF):<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an <strong>international NGO<\/strong> whose self-proclaimed <strong>aim is to defend and promote media freedom.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Headquarters: Paris,<\/strong> France.<\/li>\n<li>It has <strong>consultative status with the United Nations.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>RSF defines press freedom as \u201cthe ability of journalists as individuals and collectives to select, produce, and disseminate news in the public interest independent of political, economic, legal and social interference and in \u00a0 the absence of threats to their physical and mental safety.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What are four fundamental freedoms?<\/h3>\n<p>The four freedoms relate to freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want and freedom from fear.
