{"id":105717,"date":"2026-05-29T15:02:03","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T09:32:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=105717"},"modified":"2026-05-29T15:54:53","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T10:24:53","slug":"pradhan-mantri-awaas-yojana-gramin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pradhan-mantri-awaas-yojana-gramin\/","title":{"rendered":"Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister for Rural Development released over ten thousand crore rupees to twelve states under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched in 2016<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by restructuring the erstwhile rural housing scheme <\/span><b>Indira Awaas yojana (IAY).<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>provide financial assistance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to <\/span><b>eligible rural households,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including houseless families and those living in zero, one, or two-room kutcha houses, to construct pucca homes with basic amenities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Target:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Government initially set a target of <\/span><b>2.95 crore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> houses for <\/span><b>FY 2016\u201317 to FY 2023\u201324 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and approved the continuation of the scheme for <\/span><b>another 5 years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (FY 2024\u201325 to FY 2028\u201329) with an additional target of <\/span><b>2 crore houses.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Minimum unit size:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Each house <\/span><b>must have at least 25 sq. m<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including a dedicated hygienic cooking area.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Beneficiary Selection: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is carried out on the basis of housing deprivation parameters and exclusion criteria prescribed under <\/span><b>the Socio-Economic Caste Census<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SECC) 2011.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Financial Assistance and Funding: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme provides direct financial support for house construction:<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Unit Assistance:<\/b> <b>\u20b91.20 lakh in plain areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>\u20b91.30 lakh in hilly states<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (including North Eastern states, J&amp;K, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand).<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Funding Pattern<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cost is shared between the <\/span><b>Central and State governments in the ratio 60:40<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for plain areas and <\/span><b>90:10 for North Eastern and Himalayan states<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For <\/span><b>Union Territories without a legislature,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Centre provides <\/span><b>100% of the funding.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Monitoring:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The entire process is managed through e-governance solutions like <\/span><b>the AwaasSoft Management Information System<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (MIS) and the <\/span><b>AwaasApp mobile application.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newsonair.gov.in\/centre-releases-over-10000-crore-rupees-to-12-states-under-pradhan-mantri-awaas-yojana-gramin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">News On Air<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin was launched in 2016 by restructuring the erstwhile rural housing scheme Indira Awaas yojana (IAY).
