{"id":105721,"date":"2026-05-29T13:44:24","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T08:14:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=105721"},"modified":"2026-05-29T15:55:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T10:25:21","slug":"forest-advisory-committee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/forest-advisory-committee\/","title":{"rendered":"Forest Advisory Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Forest Advisory Committee Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) has granted in-principle approval for the diversion of over 3,000 hectares of forest land across several states for key infrastructure projects.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Forest Advisory Committee<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>statutory body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> established under the <\/span><b>Forest Conservation Act (FCA), 1980.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Functions: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It considers questions <\/span><b>on the diversion of forest land for non-forest uses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as mining, industrial projects, townships and advises the state government on the issue of granting forest clearances.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Process of Transferring Forest Land<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the FAC is convinced and approves (or rejects a proposal), it is forwarded to the concerned State government where the land is located.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The state government then has to ensure that <\/span><b>provisions of the Forest Right Act, 2006<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a separate Act that protects the rights of forest dwellers and tribals over their land, are complied with.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FAC approval also means that the future users of the land must provide compensatory land for afforestation as well as pay the net present value.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is under the <\/span><b>Ministry of Environment, Forests &amp; Climate Change (MoEF&amp;CC).<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/india-news\/fac-clears-key-infra-projects-grants-nod-for-diversion-of-3k-hectares-of-forest-land-101779907560720.html#google_vignette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">HT<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Forest Advisory Committee  is a statutory body established under the Forest Conservation Act (FCA), 1980.
