Waterways (MoPSW) launched the logistics port performance index (LPPI) for FY2024- 25 and 4 major digital initiatives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Logistics Port Performance Index<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is developed <\/span><b>under the Sagar Aankalan framework.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>national benchmarking mechanism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> designed to<\/span><b> assess and improve the operational performance of Indian ports.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The LPPI <\/span><b>evaluates <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ports <\/span><b>across three cargo segments<\/b> <b>dry bulk, liquid bulk and container cargo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> using <\/span><b>operational indicators<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as;<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cargo handled, vessel turnaround time, berth idle time, pre-berthing waiting time, container dwell time and ship berth day output.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The framework assigns equal weightage to <\/span><b>absolute performance and year-on-year<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> improvement, encouraging continuous enhancement of port operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The index aligns with the <\/span><b>PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and seeks to strengthen India&#8217;s position in global logistics and maritime trade.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Highlights of Logistics Port Performance Index<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Paradip Port<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Authority topped the <\/span><b>Dry Bulk Cargo category<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> handling more than 5 million tonnes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Sikka Port<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Terminals led the <\/span><b>Liquid Bulk Cargo segment.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Mundra Port<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> emerged as the <\/span><b>highest-ranked port<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the <\/span><b>Container Cargo category<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> handling more than 0.5 million TEUs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> secured the second position among major container ports in the same category.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Other Initiatives Launched<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>24&#215;7 Grievance Redressal Module<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was launched under <\/span><b>the e-Navik platform,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a Ship Registration Module on the e-Samudra platform, a Medical Practitioner Module and a Unified Ship Recycling Credit Note Module.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Unified Ship Recycling Portal for Ship Recycling Credit scheme<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is part of the Government&#8217;s \u20b970,000-crore maritime development package announced in 2025.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the scheme, <\/span><b>ship owners recycling vessels<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at <\/span><b>Hong Kong Convention-compliant Indian yards<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can receive a credit note equivalent to 40 per cent of the vessel&#8217;s scrap value, redeemable against new shipbuilding
