The corporation aims to raise up to \u20b91,000 crore to finance maritime infrastructure and blue economy projects.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What are Blue Bonds?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Globally, blue bonds have emerged as an innovative financing mechanism for promoting sustainable ocean-based development.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Blue Bonds<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are <\/span><b>debt instruments issued to raise capital<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for projects that support the <\/span><b>sustainable use, conservation and management of ocean and marine resources.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are similar to <\/span><b>green bonds<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but specifically focus on marine and coastal ecosystems, sustainable fisheries, port infrastructure, marine renewable energy and ocean-related economic activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>world\u2019s first sovereign blue bond was issued by Seychelles in 2018<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with support from the <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/world-bank\/\" target=\"_blank\">World Bank<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Features of the Proposed Bond Issue<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sagarmala Finance Corporation <\/span><b>plans to raise up to \u20b91,000 crore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through India\u2019s first Blue Bond issue.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bond issue will consist of a <\/span><b>base amount of \u20b9500 crore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> along with a <\/span><b>green shoe option of an additional \u20b9500 crore<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in case investor demand exceeds the initial offering.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The funds raised will be used to provide long-term financing for <\/span><b>ports, coastal infrastructure, shipping, inland waterways and other maritime projects<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The issue is aimed at investors seeking investment opportunities in India\u2019s growing maritime sector.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Trust Capital, AK Capital and Tipsons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have been appointed as advisers for the bond issue.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The proposed issuance is expected to mark India\u2019s entry into the blue bond market and strengthen sustainable financing for the maritime sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Sagarmala Finance Corporation<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Sagarmala Finance Corporation Ltd.
