


{"id":106302,"date":"2026-06-02T13:13:39","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T07:43:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=106302"},"modified":"2026-06-02T13:13:39","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T07:43:39","slug":"blue-micromoon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/blue-micromoon\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Micromoon"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Blue Micromoon Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Skywatchers will be treated to a rare sight this month: a Blue Moon that is also a &#8220;micromoon. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What is a Blue Moon?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A blue moon is the<\/span><b> second full moon<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in a<\/span><b> calendar month.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That is <\/span><b>unusual <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">because the <\/span><b>period from one full moon to another<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is about <\/span><b>29 1\/2 days.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>So when two occur in the same month<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><b>first <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of these full moons is <\/span><b>always on the first or second day of the month.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>On average<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/super-blue-moon\/\" target=\"_blank\">blue moon<\/a> occurs once every 33 months <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or full moons,<\/span><b> 41 times per century<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or about <\/span><b>seven times every 19 years.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An <\/span><b>even rarer event<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is when <\/span><b>two blue moons happen in the same calendar year<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which happens about <\/span><b>four times per century.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Sometimes, smoke or dust<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the air can <\/span><b>scatter red wavelengths of light<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as a result of which the <\/span><b>moon may<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in certain places, <\/span><b>appear more blue than usual.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But this has <\/span><b>nothing to do with the name \u201cblue\u201d moon, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the association of the colour with the term is unclear.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>What is a Micro Moon?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This refers to the <\/span><b>apparent size of the moon as viewed from Earth.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>moon <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is <\/span><b>not always a constant distance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> away <\/span><b>from the Earth.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its <\/span><b>orbit around the Earth <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is <\/span><b>elliptical<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The moon is about 363,711 km away at its <\/span><b>closest to earth, known as perigee<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>At apogee,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or the<\/span><b> furthest point<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the moon is about 403,945 km away.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a <\/span><b>full moon<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> happens to <\/span><b>occur close to its closest point<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, then we call that a <\/span><b>supermoon<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
