Ecologically Sensitive Zone (ESZ) around Bengaluru\u2019s Bannerghatta National Park (BNP) should be restored to its original 2016 extent.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Bannerghatta National Park<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Location:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is in the hills of <\/span><b>the Anekal range<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, near <\/span><b>Bangalore, Karnataka<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was declared a National Park in 1974.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2006, India\u2019s first butterfly enclosure was inaugurated at the park.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>River:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The <\/span><b>Suvarnamukhi stream,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the main source of water for the animals in the park, runs through the centre of the park.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Vegetation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> There are three types of vegetation that can be found: <\/span><b>Dry Deciduous Scrub Forests, Southern Tropical Dry Deciduous<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Forests and <\/span><b>Southern Tropical Moist Mixed Forests.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Flora:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Include Narcissus latifolia, Schleichera oleosa, Sandalwood, Neem, Tamarind, Bamboo, Eucalyptus, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Fauna:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Prime habitat for several species, including the endangered Asian Elephant, Indian gaur, Tiger, Sambar deer, Spotted deer,Leopard, Wild dog, Wild pig, Sloth bear etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>What is an Ecologically Sensitive Zone?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eco-Sensitive Zones are created <\/span><b>as \u201cshock absorbers\u201d for the protected areas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to minimize the negative impact on the \u201cfragile ecosystems\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These zones are notified by the <\/span><b>Ministry of Environment, Forests and
