{"id":106988,"date":"2026-06-06T12:58:45","date_gmt":"2026-06-06T07:28:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=106988"},"modified":"2026-06-06T12:58:45","modified_gmt":"2026-06-06T07:28:45","slug":"e85-fuel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/e85-fuel\/","title":{"rendered":"E85 Fuel"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>E85 Fuel Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas launched E85 fuel at an IndianOil retail outlet in New Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About E85 Fuel<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>high-ethanol blended fuel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> comprising <\/span><b>80\u201385 per cent ethanol<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>14\u201319 per cent petrol<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, specifically designed for use in flex-fuel vehicles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The initiative aims to <\/span><b>facilitate the adoption of Flex-Fuel Vehicles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (FFVs), which are capable of operating on ethanol blends from E20 to E100, without restricting consumers to a single blend.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Benefits of E85 Fuel<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Lower Price:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> E85 is <\/span><b>priced lower than conventional petrol<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to ensure that the economic benefits of domestically produced ethanol are passed on to consumers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Reduce lifecycle Greenhouse gas: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flex-fuel vehicles operating on E85 can <\/span><b>reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by around 61 per cent compared to conventional petrol vehicles.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Knock Resistance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> With a <\/span><b>Research Octane Number<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (RON) of about 108,\u00a0 ethanol <\/span><b>offers superior knock resistance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that allows engines to operate at higher compression ratios and optimized ignition timing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Cleaner Combustion:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Higher ethanol blends promote cleaner and more complete combustion, <\/span><b>resulting in near-zero particulate matter emissions <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">contributing to improved urban air quality.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2269509&amp;reg=48&amp;lang=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>E85 Fuel is a high-ethanol blended fuel comprising 80\u201385 per cent ethanol and 14\u201319 per cent petrol, specifically designed for use in flex-fuel vehicles.
