


{"id":108132,"date":"2026-06-14T14:42:29","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T09:12:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=108132"},"modified":"2026-06-14T18:55:46","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T13:25:46","slug":"anchor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/anchor\/","title":{"rendered":"ANCHOR"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>ANCHOR Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has released the world\u2019s most detailed 3D Atlas of human brainstem called ANCHOR.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About ANCHOR<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ANCHOR stands for <\/span><b>Atlas of Neurochemical Characterization of the human brainstem with 3D Reconstruction.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the world\u2019s most <\/span><b>detailed 3D Atlas of human brainstem.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It comprises the most comprehensive, multi-modal, 3D maps and atlases of the human brainstem to date spanning from <\/span><b>prenatal period to childhood and adult brains.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Developed by:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is developed by <\/span><b>Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre (SGBC) at IIT Madras.<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Key Features<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It encompasses more than <\/span><b>200 brainstem nuclei and fiber tracts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, reconstructed from hundreds of serial sections.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Technology used:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This is a multimodal framework integrated <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/magnetic-resonance-imaging\/\" target=\"_blank\">MRI<\/a>, histology and detailed chemo-architecture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been reconstructed by eight complementary immunostains overlaid across more than <\/span><b>500 sections, enabling detailed mapping.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It allows users to zoom in nearly 1,000 times closer than MRI and allows researchers to look at cells at the micron level.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Significance<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It acts as a navigational map of the brain which <\/span><b>could allow scientists to explore the landscape of neural networks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and cellular clusters and study how the brain changes from the fetal stage to old age.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It could eventually help <\/span><b>reveal how diseases affect different regions of the brain,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allowing clinical practitioners a faster way to catch neurodegenerative diseases.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2272006&amp;reg=48&amp;lang=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANCHOR is the world\u2019s most detailed 3D human brainstem atlas, developed by IIT Madras to map brain structure across life stages.
