Roy,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a renowned anthropologist.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AnSI wa<\/span><b>s initially set up to study the tribes and castes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of India and their way of life.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AnSI\u2019s<\/span><b> early research<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> focused on<\/span><b> collecting ethnographic data on the different tribes and castes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of India, including their social structure, kinship system, religious beliefs, and economic activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the years, AnSI has <\/span><b>expanded its research ambit <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to include the study of the <\/span><b>entire gamut of Indian society,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including the <\/span><b>rural and urban population<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><b>marginalized sections, and the diaspora.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Principle Objectives of AnSI:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To <\/span><b>research the tribes and other groups<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that make up India\u2019s population from a biological and cultural perspective.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To<\/span><b> examine and conserve human skeletal remains<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from both contemporary and archaic times.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To <\/span><b>gather examples of Indian tribal arts and crafts.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To serve as a <\/span><b>training ground<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for management and advanced anthropology students.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To <\/span><b>publish the research\u2019s findings.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AnSI has <\/span><b>several branche<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s located in different parts of India, including <\/span><b>Delhi, Lucknow, Shillong, and Pune.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AnSI has a multidisciplinary team of anthropologists, sociologists, linguists, archaeologists, and other allied professionals who conduct research and studies on various aspects of Indian society.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">AnSI\u2019s research f<\/span><b>indings are published<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in its various publications, including the<\/span><b> Journal of Anthropological Survey of India, Occasional Papers, and Monographs. <\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>News<\/b><strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/asi-transfers-rakhigarhi-skeletons-to-anthropological-survey-of-india-for-further-research\/article71133224.ece#google_vignette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">TH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anthropological Survey of India is a government-funded organization that conducts anthropological research and studies on the diverse cultures of India.
