


{"id":109494,"date":"2026-06-23T13:21:45","date_gmt":"2026-06-23T07:51:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=109494"},"modified":"2026-06-23T13:58:33","modified_gmt":"2026-06-23T08:28:33","slug":"sarinda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/sarinda\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarinda"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Sarinda Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tripura\u2019s rich cultural heritage has received a major boost with the traditional Tripura Sarinda being granted the Geographical Indication, or GI, tag.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Sarinda<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>bowed string musical instrument<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which is crafted from a <\/span><b>single block of wood<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with a hollow resonator.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is associated with the indigenous communities of <\/span><b>Tripura and used<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> during folk performances and other indigenous musical expressions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also known as <\/span><b>Sarinda Uakhrap.<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Features of Sarinda<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is specially <\/span><b>made of bamboo.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also <\/span><b>has an oval shaped void wooden vibrating chamber<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which is covered with a thin skin.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its wider top portion is open. The waist is narrow shaped.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The instrument is about 65-70 cm. The lower portion is oval.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The middle portion is large and the edges are wide. The cave portion is uncovered.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the top portion three pegs are fitted in order to fasten the strings.
