{"id":110252,"date":"2026-06-28T11:56:41","date_gmt":"2026-06-28T06:26:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=110252"},"modified":"2026-06-28T14:07:22","modified_gmt":"2026-06-28T08:37:22","slug":"icgs-akshay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/icgs-akshay\/","title":{"rendered":"ICGS Akshay"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>ICGS Akshay Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Akshay, a new-generation Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV), was commissioned into the Bharatiya Tatrakshak Fleet at Goa.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About ICGS Akshay<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a new-generation <\/span><b>Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV).<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is named Akshay, meaning <\/span><b>Indestructible.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>fourth vessel in the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/adamya-fast-patrol-vessel\/\" target=\"_blank\">adamya<\/a> class series<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of eight fast patrol vessels.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Functions:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is equipped to undertake a <\/span><b>wide range of Coast Guard operations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including;<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maritime law enforcement, coastal security, search and rescue, marine environmental protection and assistance to mariners in distress, thereby enhancing the operational capability of Bharatiya Tatrakshak.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is designed and <\/span><b>constructed by Goa Shipyard.<\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Features of ICGS Akshay<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Armaments:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is armed with a 30mm CRN-91 gun and two 12.7mm stabilised remote-controlled guns with fire-control systems.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is equipped with advanced <\/span><b>Controllable Pitch Propeller<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CPP) <\/span><b>propulsion <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">systems paired with two 3,000 kW diesel engines.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vessels measure 52 metres in length with a <\/span><b>displacement of 320 tonnes.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Significance: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">carries over 65 percent indigenous content.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseDetail.aspx?PRID=2278486&amp;reg=6&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ICGS Akshay is a new-generation Fast Patrol Vessel built by Goa Shipyard for maritime law enforcement, rescue, and coastal security.
