{"id":11030,"date":"2023-05-17T05:50:52","date_gmt":"2023-05-17T00:20:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=11030"},"modified":"2025-03-30T00:08:05","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T18:38:05","slug":"gekko-mizoramensis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/gekko-mizoramensis\/","title":{"rendered":"Gekko Mizoramensis"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Gekko Mizoramensis:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>subgenus<\/strong> called <strong>Ptychozoon of the Gekko genus<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>There are <strong>13 species of them throughout the world<\/strong> and they are <strong>found in Southeast Asia<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Before founding this species, only one species- Ptychozoon lionotum or smooth-backed gliding gecko-was found in Mizoram.<\/li>\n<li>Its habitat spread into the parts of <strong>Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand and Cambodia along with Mizoram.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>arboreal, nocturnal and glides<\/strong> from one tree to another.<\/li>\n<li>The new species is <strong>most similar to its sister species<\/strong> Gekko popaensis, from which it <strong>differs in having an uncorrected pairwise<\/strong> sequence divergence of 7\u201314% and by discrete differences in morphology and colour pattern.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Flying geckos have <strong>webbed limbs and flat tails<\/strong> to help them glide (they do not fly).<\/li>\n<li>The species is paraphyletic and comprises multiple cryptic species.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) Why is the Mizoram famous for?<\/h3>\n<p>Its evergreen hills and dense bamboo jungles, Mizoram lies in the southern most tip of north east India.
