The programme will now move into <strong>Jal Jeevan Mission\u00a02.0<\/strong>, focusing on restructuring implementation and introducing structural reforms in the rural drinking water supply sector.<\/p>\n<h2><b>About Jal Jeevan Mission<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched on August 15, 2019.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JJM is envisioned to <\/span><b>provide safe and adequate drinking water<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through individual Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) by 2024 to all households in rural India.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is based on a <\/span><b>community approach to water<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and will include extensive Information, Education and communication as key components of the mission.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nodal Ministry: <\/span><b>Ministry of Jal Shakti.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Components of Jal Jeevan Mission<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Development of <\/span><b>in-village piped water supply<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> infrastructure to provide tap water connections to every rural household.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Bottom-up planning:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Community engagement in planning, implementation and Operation and Maintenance (O&amp;M)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women empowerment: Involvement of women in planning, decision-making, implementation, monitoring, and O&amp;M<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Focus on future generations:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Provision of tap water supply to schools, tribalhostels, and anganwadi (daycare) centers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Skill development and employment generation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Local people are skilled for building and maintaining water supply structures<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Greywater management:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Reuse and recycle waste water for source sustenance<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Source sustainability:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Promote groundwater recharge and water conservation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Water Quality:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ensure safe drinking water to reduce water-borne ailments<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Funding Pattern for Jal Jeevan Mission<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50:50 between Centre and States<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">90:10 for Himalayan and North-Eastern States.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In case of UTs, 100% of the funding is provided by the Central government.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>\u00a0Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/india\/jal-jeevan-mission-pipelines-pm-gati-shakti-portal-management-drinking-water-infrastructure-10290670\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">IE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jal Jeevan Mission is based on a community approach to water and will include extensive Information, Education and communication as key components of the mission.
