{"id":110535,"date":"2026-06-30T12:50:29","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T07:20:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=110535"},"modified":"2026-06-30T14:10:59","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T08:40:59","slug":"samagra-shishu-bal-swasthya-karyakram","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/samagra-shishu-bal-swasthya-karyakram\/","title":{"rendered":"Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare launched the Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram (SSBSK).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>unified national programme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that provides a seamless continuum of <\/span><b>home<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>community-based care<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for <\/span><b>every child<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from <\/span><b>birth to 36 months of age.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The programme embodies the vision of <\/span><b>Comprehensive care during the first three years.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It integrates the existing <\/span><b>Home-Based Newborn Care<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (HBNC) and <\/span><b>Home-Based Care for Young Child (HBYC) programmes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> into a single comprehensive framework.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Feature of Samagra Shishu Bal Swasthya Karyakram<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Risk-stratified Approach:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It <\/span><b>introduces a risk-stratified approach,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> providing intensified follow-up for <\/span><b>newborns and children<\/b> <b>identified as \u201cat-risk\u201d,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> due to conditions such as low birth weight, prematurity, delayed initiation of breastfeeding etc<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the <\/span><b>programme, &#8216;At-risk&#8217; newborns<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will receive <\/span><b>up to nine home visits<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> during the first <\/span><b>42 days of life,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> while <\/span><b>&#8216;At-risk&#8217; children<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will receive up to eight home visits up to the age of <\/span><b>36 months.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Community Platforms:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It introduces <\/span><b>Well-Baby Sessions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at every Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND) and a <\/span><b>monthly Shishu Shivir at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Maternal Mental Health:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It incorporates <\/span><b>post-partum maternal mental health screening<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as an integral component of community-based care.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>ASHAs will undertake early screening<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and facilitate timely referral for further assessment and support whenever necessary.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Early Childhood Development<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It also mainstreams <\/span><b>Nurturing Care for Early Childhood Development<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ECD) by promoting responsive caregiving, early learning opportunities, age-appropriate play.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Technology &amp; Digital Integration: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It envisages the extensive use of <\/span><b>digital technologies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to enhance service delivery, monitoring and continuity of care.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Decision-Support Systems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (DSS), <\/span><b>child-wise digital tracking<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, referral mechanisms and alert systems will strengthen follow-up and case management of &#8216;At-risk&#8217;
