It honours Chartered Accountants for their role in strengthening India\u2019s financial system, promoting ethical business practices, and safeguarding public trust.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Why is CA Day celebrated on 1 July?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CA Day is observed on <\/span><b>1 July <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">because it was <\/span><b>on this day in 1949 that the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 came into force<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, leading to the establishment of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) through an Act of Parliament.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>CA Day 2026 Theme<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The theme for CA Day 2026 has not been announced yet by ICAI. The day is aligned with the motive as seen in the past years to honour the Chartered Accountants of India and the World for their roles and contributions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><b>CA Day Celebrations 2026<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The CA Day Celebrations 2026 marked the 78th Foundation Day of ICAI and highlighted the contributions of Chartered Accountants to India&#8217;s economy, transparency and good governance.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 78th Chartered Accountants Day 2026 was celebrated on 1 July 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, in the presence of the Vice President of India and ICAI leadership.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>ICAI Jan Utsav Portal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, developed with MyGov, was launched to increase public participation and spread awareness about the role of Chartered Accountants in nation building.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ICAI released the <\/span><b>75th edition of The Chartered Accountant Journal <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and launched a <\/span><b>digital Peer Review Portal <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to improve transparency, efficiency and compliance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nationwide programmes such as knowledge sessions, blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, and social outreach activities were organised to mark the occasion.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Who are Chartered Accountants (CAs)?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chartered Accountants (CAs) play a crucial role in managing finances, ensuring legal compliance, and promoting transparency in businesses and public institutions.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Maintain Financial Records<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Prepare accurate financial statements and balance sheets.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Example<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Preparing the annual financial statements of a company.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li in India History<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Chartered Accountancy profession in India has its roots in the British colonial period, much before the establishment of ICAI.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>1913<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The Companies Act, 1913 required registered companies to maintain proper books of accounts and have them audited. This created the demand for professionally trained accountants in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>1918<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: To meet this demand, the Government introduced the <\/span><b>Government Diploma in Accountancy (GDA) in Bombay (now Mumbai).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>1930<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The Government of India started maintaining an official Register of Accountants. Meaning &#8211; \u201cThe one who remains awake when others sleep.\u201d The motto, derived from the Upanishads, symbolises: Vigilance, Integrity, Ethical conduct, Accountability and Commitment to public interest.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Regulatory Role<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Sole authority to regulate the Chartered Accountancy profession in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: To uphold financial transparency, accountability, and excellence in the accounting profession while protecting the public interest.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The affairs of the ICAI are managed by a Council in accordance with the provisions of the <\/span><b>Chartered Accountants Act, 1949<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
