{"id":11158,"date":"2023-05-22T02:33:27","date_gmt":"2023-05-21T21:03:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=11158"},"modified":"2025-03-30T00:53:41","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T19:23:41","slug":"heat-wave","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/heat-wave\/","title":{"rendered":"Heat Wave"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>What is a heat wave?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A Heat Wave is a period of abnormally high temperatures, more than the normal maximum temperature that occurs during the summer season in the North-Western parts of India.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong> Heat Waves typically occur between March and June, and in some rare cases even extend till July.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Criteria:<\/strong> According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), when actual maximum temperature remains 45*C or more irrespective of normal maximum temperature, heat waves should be declared.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reasons for heat waves:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Extreme weather conditions like Heat Waves in summer, Cold Waves in winter and extreme rainfall when it is least expected have almost become the norm due to climate change.<\/li>\n<li>In India, some climatic reasons probably make heat waves on the east coast deadlier.<\/li>\n<li>In May and June, the Bay of Bengal often witnesses Anti-Cyclonic Circulations which work towards trapping the heat in the lower atmosphere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Health Impacts:<\/strong> The health impacts of Heat Waves typically involve dehydration, heat cramps, heat exhaustion and\/or heat stroke.
