Employment,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Government of India.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Headquarters: New Delhi\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) <\/b><b>Formation<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In pursuance of the <\/span><b>recommendation of the Royal Commission on Labour<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India, the organization was <\/span><b>set up in April 1945<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by combining the former organizations of the conciliation Officer (Railways), Supervisor of Railway Labour and the Labour Welfare Advisor.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>then charged mainly with duties<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><b>prevention and settlement of industrial disputes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>enforcement of <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/labour-codes\/\" target=\"_blank\">labour laws<\/a>,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and to <\/span><b>promote welfare of workers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the industrial <\/span><b>establishments <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">falling within the sphere of the<\/span><b> Central Government.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>started <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with a <\/span><b>small complement of staff<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> comprising a <\/span><b>Chief Labour Commissioner (C) at New Delhi,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 3 <\/span><b>Regional Labour Commissioners<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at Bombay, Kolkata &amp;
