{"id":112355,"date":"2026-07-10T12:11:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T06:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=112355"},"modified":"2026-07-10T12:11:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T06:41:09","slug":"mitrephora-rashmiae","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/mitrephora-rashmiae\/","title":{"rendered":"Mitrephora rashmiae"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Mitrephora rashmiae Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Researchers from Mumbai&#8217;s Thackeray Wildlife Foundation recently discovered a new flowering tree species named Mitrephora rashmiae in Arunachal Pradesh&#8217;s Upper Subansiri district. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Mitrephora rashmiae<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a new species of<\/span><b> flowering tree species.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was discovered in the remote forests of <\/span><b>Arunachal Pradesh\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">s Upper Subansiri district.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It belongs to the <\/span><b>custard apple family.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>only second species<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the<\/span><b> Mitrephora genus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ever <\/span><b>recorded from the Eastern Himalayan Biodiversity Hotspot.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is also the <\/span><b>first known species <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the genus to <\/span><b>bear both male and bisexual flowers on the same tree<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, making it unique from a scientific perspective.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mitrephora rashmiae can be identified by its<\/span><b> pale-yellow flowers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> marked with <\/span><b>purple stripes <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and a <\/span><b>unique dome-shaped floral structure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> formed by the inner petals.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>currently known<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from a <\/span><b>single tree<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the wild.
