{"id":112757,"date":"2026-07-12T14:07:36","date_gmt":"2026-07-12T08:37:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=112757"},"modified":"2026-07-12T17:13:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-12T11:43:18","slug":"chandraprabha-wildlife-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/chandraprabha-wildlife-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Researchers recently discovered a new disease-causing fungal genus named Hyalokamalomyces during a research on another plant disease at the Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary in Chandauli. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Chandraprabha Wildlife Sanctuary<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is located in the Chandauli district of <\/span><b>Uttar Pradesh.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is spread over an area of 78 sq.km and lies on the <\/span><b>Naugarh and Vijaigarh hillocks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the north slope of the <\/span><b>Kaimur Range<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is named after the<\/span><b> Chandraprabha River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, meaning \u2018The Luminescence of Moon\u2019.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The river is a <\/span><b>tributary of the Karamnasha River,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and both flow through the forest to <\/span><b>finally meet the Ganges.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the early 18th century, this area became a <\/span><b>hunting ground for the rulers of Varanasi, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">but eventually, in 1957, the sanctuary was established here.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/asiatic-lions\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Asiatic lions<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> were <\/span><b>introduced <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at Chandra Prabha in <\/span><b>1958<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The exercise was <\/span><b>successful in the beginning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with the number of lions increasing from three to eleven by 1969.
