<strong>Prime Minister Indira Gandhi<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>first show<\/strong> which took place here <strong>was the ASIA 72 TRADE SHOW \u2013 to celebrate 25 years of India\u2019s Independence.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>owned, operated, controlled<\/strong> and managed <strong>by India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO),<\/strong> the <strong>trade promotion agency of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry<\/strong>, Govt. of India.<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>hosts over 70 national and international exhibitions<\/strong> annually, with <strong>the largest being the India International Trade Fair.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>huge complex of buildings<\/strong>, covering over <strong>150 acres (0.61 km2<\/strong>) sprinkled with <strong>many lawns<\/strong>, <strong>overlooking the historic Purana Qila.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The complex <strong>houses many pavilions like the Nehru Pavilion, the Defence Pavilion<\/strong>, the <strong>Indira Pavilion<\/strong>, and the Son of India Pavilion.<\/li>\n<li>It also <strong>has an auditorium<\/strong> where rock shows and plays are held quite frequently.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The complex houses <strong>18 exhibition halls<\/strong>, several buildings, eateries, <strong>performance spaces and compounds<\/strong>, <strong>including headquarters of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Key facts about Purana Qila:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>It is located on the <strong>South Eastern part<\/strong> of the present city of <strong>New Delhi.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>one of the oldest forts in Delhi<\/strong> and <strong>built on the banks of river Yamuna<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>present citadel at Purana Qila started its construction in the reign of\u00a0 Humayun<\/strong> and was <strong>completed by Sher Shah Suri (\u2018<\/strong>The Lion King\u2019).<\/li>\n<li>The Qila was <strong>inspired by Jama Masjid<\/strong>, which was established 15 years before the reconstruction of Qila.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Architecture<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>It is <strong>rectangular in shape<\/strong> and is spread over an area of 1.5 kilometers.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Another amazing feature of the Purana Qila are the <strong>three gates that are a display of a happy blend of Hindu and Muslim styles of architecture<\/strong>. \u2013 <strong>Bara Darwaza or the Big Gate<\/strong> facing west, the <strong>Humayun Gate<\/strong> facing south, and the <strong>Talaqqi Gate<\/strong>, which is often referred to as the forbidden gate.<\/li>\n<li><strong>All of the gates are double-storeyed<\/strong>
