{"id":11410,"date":"2023-05-24T10:33:20","date_gmt":"2023-05-24T05:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=11410"},"modified":"2025-03-30T02:26:43","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T20:56:43","slug":"tal-chhapar-wildlife-sanctuary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/tal-chhapar-wildlife-sanctuary\/","title":{"rendered":"Tal Chhapar Wildlife Sanctuary"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Tal Chhapar Sanctuary:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Tal Chhapar Wildlife Santuary is located in Sujangarh tehsil of <strong>Rajasthan\u2019s Churu district <\/strong>and spanning <strong>7.1977 square Km.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is situated on the <strong>border of the Great Indian Thar Desert<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It was established <strong>as a \u201cReserved area\u201d in 1962<\/strong> and was given the status of a <strong>sanctuary in 1966.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Topography: <\/strong>This Sanctuary has nearly <strong>flat territory<\/strong> and combined <strong>thin low lying region.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fauna:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The sanctuary is home to over <strong>4,500 Blackbucks<\/strong>, <strong>Chinkara, and more than 250 species of birds,<\/strong> including migratory raptors.<\/li>\n<li>It is a distinctive shelter of the most graceful Antelope seen in India, \u201c<strong>the Blackbuck\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is one of the <strong>top halting places for migratory birds<\/strong> such as harriers. The migratory birds come from <strong>Central Asia and Europe.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flora:<\/strong> It has got open and <strong>wide grasslands<\/strong> with spread <strong>Acacia and Prosopis plants<\/strong> that offer it a look of a <strong>characteristic Savanna.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What is Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ)<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In order <strong>to manage and conserve biodiversity across the Protected Areas<\/strong> MoEF Change notifies Eco-Sensitive Zones (ESZs) around the Protected Areas.<\/li>\n<li>In the year <strong>2002,<\/strong> it was decided that an area around each Protected Areas, requires to be notified as Eco-Sensitive Zone for<strong> creating a buffer as further protection around Protected Areas (PAs)<\/strong> under <strong>Environment protection act, 1986.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Eco-sensitive Zone could <strong>go upto 10 Kms<\/strong> around a Protected Areas.<\/li>\n<li>The Supreme Court on 3 June 2022, modified its previous order mandating <strong>a minimum 1-km eco-sensitive zone<\/strong> around national parks or wildlife sanctuaries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) Why blackbuck is hunted?<\/h3>\n<p>These animals are hunted for their skin. Poachers have made this species of animal a main target from the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century. Conservation: The IUCN List has declared this species as Nearly Threatened.
