commissioned the White Rabbit Technology-based Indian Standard Time (IST) Dissemination Demonstration Network at the Regional Reference Standard Laboratory (RRSL), Bengaluru,<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About White Rabbit Technology-based Indian Standard Time (IST) Dissemination Demonstration Network<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was commissioned at the<\/span><b> Regional Reference Standard Laboratory (RRSL)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>Bengaluru<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>developed jointly<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the<\/span><b> Department of Consumer Affairs, CSIR\u2013National Physical Laboratory (CSIR\u2013NPL)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the Indian Space Research Organisation (<\/span><b>ISRO<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system <\/span><b>disseminates IST, traceable to national time-keeping authority UTC (NPLI)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>using Precision Time Protocol (PTP)-based White Rabbit technology.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system is designed to <\/span><b>deliver highly accurate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, secure and resilient time <\/span><b>synchronisation for critical sectors,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including banking, financial markets, telecommunications, power systems, transportation, digital governance and other strategic infrastructure.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This network has already successfully <\/span><b>verified the secure transmission of IST between RRSL Bengaluru<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-stock-exchange\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Stock Exchange (NSE)<\/a> in Chennai.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>What is White Rabbit Technology?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">White Rabbit is <\/span><b>an advanced networking protocol that allows devices connected via optical fibre to synchronise their internal clocks with an accuracy of less than one nanosecond<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (one-billionth of a second).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Originally developed at CERN <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(the European Organisation for Nuclear Research), this technology acts as a <\/span><b>high-precision upgrade to standard Ethernet networking.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its primary innovation is its <\/span><b>ability to continuously monitor and compensate for signal delays <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">across long distances.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By doing so, it <\/span><b>ensures that every node in a network <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">remains <\/span><b>perfectly aligned, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">effectively<\/span><b> eliminating the &#8220;time drift&#8221;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that occurs in conventional systems.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Why is this deployment critical for India?<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Currently, many of India\u2019s digital systems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014ranging from telecommunications to banking\u2014<\/span><b>rely on foreign satellite-based timing services<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as the US-operated <\/span><b>GPS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While these systems are functional, they are <\/span><b>vulnerable to external risks.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span
