Dutt<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u00a0 was an <\/span><b>Indian revolutionary<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a <\/span><b>freedom fighter<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the early <\/span><b>1900s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was <\/span><b>born <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on November 18, <\/span><b>1910<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in <\/span><b>Bengal\u2019s <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Burdwan district.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He<\/span><b> shifted to Kanpur to study<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the PPN High School, from where he graduated.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was a<\/span><b> close associate <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of freedom fighters <\/span><b>Chandrashekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh.<\/b> <b>He met Bhagat Singh in Kanpur <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 1924.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He <\/span><b>joined the Hindustan Republican Association (HRA)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>learned how to make bombs.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>The Central Assembly Bombing (April 8, 1929):<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He is <\/span><b>best known <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for having<\/span><b> exploded a few bombs, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/bhagat-singh\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bhagat Singh<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in the <\/span><b>Central Legislative Assembly in New Delhi<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on<\/span><b> 8 April 1929<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This was planned to<\/span><b> protest the passage <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the repressive<\/span><b> Public Safety Bill and Trade Disputes Bill.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the action, they raised the <\/span><b>historic slogan Inquilab Zindabad!<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Long Live the Revolution!), and <\/span><b>distributed leaflets<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> stating, \u2018\u2019<\/span><b>if the deaf are to hear, the sound has to be very loud\u2019\u2019.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt quietly <\/span><b>courted arrest <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">after the incident.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They were famously <\/span><b>defended by M. Asaf Ali<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but were both <\/span><b>sentenced to\u00a0 imprisonment for life.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After they were imprisoned, <\/span><b>he and Bhagat Singh initiated a historic hunger strike <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">protesting <\/span><b>against the abusive treatment of Indian political prisoners<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>eventually secured some rights<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for them.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Bhagat Singh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was<\/span><b> also tried for his involvement <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the<\/span><b> murder of British police officer John Saunders,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> along with<\/span><b> Rajguru and Sukhdev.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He was<\/span><b> sentenced to death<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and executed on 23rd March <\/span><b>1931<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>After Dutt\u2019s release<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, he took part in the freedom struggle notably in the <\/span><b>Quit India Movement.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> He was<\/span><b> jailed again<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for four years.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was<\/span><b> eventually released<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from prison <\/span><b>following India\u2018s independence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 1947.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He <\/span><b>passed away<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on July 20, <\/span><b>1965<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He was <\/span><b>cremated in the Hussainiwala National Martyrs Memorial in Punjab.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This is the <\/span><b>same place <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">where his friends <\/span><b>Bhagat Singh, Shivaram Rajguru, and Sukhdev Thapar <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">were cremated.\u00a0 <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>News<\/b><strong>:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/newsonair.gov.in\/hm-amit-shah-defence-minister-rajnath-singh-pay-tribute-to-freedom-fighter-batukeshwar-dutt-on-his-death-anniversary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>NOA<\/strong><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Batukeshwar Dutt was an Indian revolutionary and a freedom fighter in the early 1900s.
