{"id":114492,"date":"2026-07-22T12:38:24","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T07:08:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=114492"},"modified":"2026-07-22T12:38:24","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T07:08:24","slug":"mission-golden-spice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/mission-golden-spice\/","title":{"rendered":"Mission Golden Spice"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Mission Golden Spice Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) launched the Mission Golden Spice.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About\u00a0 Mission Golden Spice<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an integrated <\/span><b>Lakadong Turmeric Value Chain Enhancement Project.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>convergence-led initiative for turmeric cultivation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and value-chain development in the <\/span><b>State of Meghalaya.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Time Period: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Five-year roadmap (2025\u20132030)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Phases:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is to be implemented in <\/span><b>two phases <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">namely <\/span><b>Value Chain Strengthening<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Phase 1) followed by <\/span><b>Expansion &amp; Scale-up<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Phase 2).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is anchored by <\/span><b>MDoNER and the North Eastern Council (<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NEC).<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mission builds upon convergence with schemes and interventions of the <\/span><b>Ministries of Agriculture &amp; Farmers Welfare<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Food Processing Industries and Commerce, along with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/agricultural-and-processed-food-products-export-development-authority-apeda\/\" target=\"_blank\">APEDA<\/a><\/strong>, the Spices Board, the National Turmeric Board, ICAR, MeitY, NABARD, SFAC and the Government of Meghalaya.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Key Facts about Lakadong Turmeric<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is mainly cultivated in the <\/span><b>Lakadong area of Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is distinguished by its <\/span><b>remarkable curcumin content<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ranging from 7 to 12%<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is darker in colour and is grown organically without the use of fertilisers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been awarded the <\/span><b>Geographical Indication (GI) tag in 2024.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Benefits:<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective properties.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2287186&amp;reg=48&amp;lang=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mission Golden Spice is an integrated Lakadong Turmeric Value Chain Enhancement Project.
