


{"id":11471,"date":"2023-05-26T05:59:40","date_gmt":"2023-05-26T00:29:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=11471"},"modified":"2025-03-30T02:48:10","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T21:18:10","slug":"what-is-the-exomars-trace-gas-orbiter-tgo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-the-exomars-trace-gas-orbiter-tgo\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO)?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>TGO is the <strong>first in a series of joint missions<\/strong> <strong>between t<\/strong>he <strong>European Space Agency<\/strong> (ESA) <strong>and Roscosmos, the Russian space agency<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Goal<\/strong>: To gain a <strong>better understanding of methane and other atmospheric gases<\/strong> that are <strong>present in small concentrations<\/strong> (less than 1% of the atmosphere) <strong>in the Martian atmosphere.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The orbiter\u2019s sensitivity to hydrogen has also allowed it to <strong>search for water buried underneath shallow layers of Martian soil.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It\u2019s also <strong>meant to test technology for future missions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was <strong>launched in March 2016<\/strong> and began operations after entering Mars orbit on Oct. 19, 2016.<\/li>\n<li>TGO <strong>carried the Schiaparelli lander<\/strong> with it to Mars.
