{"id":11479,"date":"2024-09-29T09:37:53","date_gmt":"2024-09-29T04:07:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=11479"},"modified":"2025-03-30T02:51:07","modified_gmt":"2025-03-29T21:21:07","slug":"world-schizophrenia-awareness-day-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/world-schizophrenia-awareness-day-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"World Schizophrenia Awareness Day, 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Schizophrenia:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>chronic, severe mental disorder<\/strong> that affects the way a person thinks, acts, expresses emotions, perceives reality, and relates to others.<\/li>\n<li>It mostly <strong>affects young adults<\/strong> in the productive age group.<\/li>\n<li>One in every 100 people experiences schizophrenia and men are twice as likely to develop this condition as compared to women.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Symptoms of Schizophrenia:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It can differ from person to person, but they generally fall into three main categories: <strong>psychotic, negative, and cognitive.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Psychotic symptoms<\/strong> include Hallucinations, Delusions, thought disorder, Movement disorder.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Negative symptoms<\/strong> include loss of motivation, loss of interest or enjoyment in daily activities, withdrawal from social life, difficulty showing emotions, and difficulty functioning normally.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cognitive symptoms<\/strong> include problems in attention, concentration, and memory.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Treatment:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Though there is <strong>no cure for schizophrenia<\/strong>, a variety of antipsychotic medications are effective in reducing the psychotic symptoms present in the acute phase of the illness.<\/li>\n<li>Psychological treatments such as <strong>cognitive behavioral therapy<\/strong> or supportive psychotherapy may reduce symptoms and enhance function.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is Alzheimer&#8217;s?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a brain condition that causes a progressive decline in memory, thinking, learning, and organizing skills. It is the most common type of dementia, accounting for 60-80% of all dementia cases.
