Through training, technical assistance and capacity building, it has evolved into an important instrument of India\u2019s South-South Cooperation, Global South engagement and development diplomacy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a flagship bilateral development cooperation programme of the Government of India, instituted by a decision of the Union Cabinet on 15 September <\/span><b>1964<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It provides specialised training and technical assistance to government officials and professionals, enabling them to gain knowledge and skills in areas relevant to their countries\u2019 developmental needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The programme follows a largely demand-driven approach. Partner countries identify their capacity-building requirements, after which eligible participants are nominated through the concerned authorities.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These participants undertake specialised training through Indian universities, government institutions, training centres and other approved institutions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After completing their training, they return to their home countries and apply the
