{"id":115242,"date":"2026-07-26T11:25:48","date_gmt":"2026-07-26T05:55:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=115242"},"modified":"2026-07-26T13:34:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-26T08:04:16","slug":"asean-regional-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/asean-regional-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"ASEAN Regional Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>ASEAN Regional Forum Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the External Affairs Minister said the ASEAN Regional Forum remains an important platform for discussions on political and security issues in the Indo-Pacific.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About ASEAN Regional Forum<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>established in 1994<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as an important platform for security dialogue in the Indo-Pacific.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides a setting in which members can discuss current security issues and develop cooperative measures to enhance peace and security in the region.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objectives of the ASEAN Regional Forum<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To foster <\/span><b>constructive dialogue and consultation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on political and security issues of common interest and concern; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To make significant contributions to efforts towards confidence-building and preventive diplomacy in the Asia-Pacific region.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ARF is characterised by <\/span><b>consensus-based decision-making<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and frank dialogue.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Members:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It comprises <\/span><b>27 members:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>11 ASEAN member states<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>10 ASEAN Dialogue Partners<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Australia, Canada, China, the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/european-union-eu\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>European Union (EU)<\/strong><\/a>, <\/span><b>India<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea (ROK), Russia and the United States) and other members.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Chairmanship:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The ARF is chaired by the <\/span><b>ASEAN Chair of that year.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ddnews.gov.in\/en\/eam-jaishankar-calls-for-zero-tolerance-against-terrorism-at-33rd-asean-regional-forum-ministerial-meeting-in-manila\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">DD News<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ASEAN Regional Forum was established in 1994 as an important platform for security dialogue in the Indo-Pacific.
