This day is a tribute to his <\/span><b>simple life, progressive ideas, and dedication towards social change<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which continue to inspire people even today.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/ishwar-chandra-vidyasagar\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, originally named <\/span><b>Ishwar Chandra Bandyopadhyay<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, was born on <\/span><b>26 September 1820<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>West Bengal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and later earned the title <\/span><b>\u201cVidyasagar\u201d (Ocean of Knowledge)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>1839<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> due to his deep understanding of <\/span><b>Sanskrit and philosophy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite facing <\/span><b>extreme poverty in childhood<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, he excelled in studies, cleared his <\/span><b>law examination in 1839<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and completed his education from <\/span><b>Sanskrit College, Kolkata (1841)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with expertise in subjects like
