{"id":116022,"date":"2026-07-30T12:58:48","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T07:28:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=116022"},"modified":"2026-07-30T12:58:48","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T07:28:48","slug":"machilipatnam-asw-warship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/machilipatnam-asw-warship\/","title":{"rendered":"Machilipatnam ASW Warship"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Machilipatnam ASW Warship Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Machilipatnam (BY 529) Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC) was launched.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Machilipatnam ASW Warship<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>seventh of the Mahe-class<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It derives its name from the <\/span><b>historic port city of Machilipatnam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is built by <\/span><b>Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) for the Indian Navy.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Features<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has a displacement of <\/span><b>around 900 tonnes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a <\/span><b>maximum speed of 25 knots<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and an endurance of <\/span><b>1,800 nautical miles.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ships are equipped with <\/span><b>indigenously developed advanced systems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including hull-mounted sonar and low-frequency variable depth sonar, in line with the Government\u2019s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is equipped for <\/span><b>Underwater Surveillance, Anti-Submarine Warfare<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (ASW) operations, and <\/span><b>Low Intensity Maritime Operations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (LIMO), along with Mine Warfare capability.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has indigenous content <\/span><b>exceeding 80 percent.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Significance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It will further bolster coastal defence and enhance Maritime Domain Awareness.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2291246&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Machilipatnam ASW Warship is the seventh of the Mahe-class Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC).
