{"id":11631,"date":"2024-05-10T03:22:18","date_gmt":"2024-05-09T21:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=11631"},"modified":"2025-10-06T11:13:19","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T05:43:19","slug":"foot-rot-disease","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/foot-rot-disease\/","title":{"rendered":"Foot rot disease"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Foot Rot Disease:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>fungal disease<\/strong> that affects Basmati rice crops particularly <strong>at the seedling stage<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It might also cause infection after transplantation in case infected seedlings are transplanted.<\/li>\n<li>It is caused by the <strong>fungus Fusarium verticillioides<\/strong>, a soil-seed borne pathogen which spreads the infection through the root of the plant, and eventually leads to the colonisation of the stem base,<\/li>\n<li>Infected seedlings first turn pale yellow, then elongate and <strong>dry up, and eventually<\/strong> (usually) <strong>die.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Currently, seedlings are treated with <strong>Trichoderma harzianum<\/strong> before sowing and transplantation.<\/li>\n<li>Seeds are also treated with fungicides such as Sprint 75 WS (<strong>carbendazim + mancozeb<\/strong>) before sowing.
