{"id":116442,"date":"2026-08-01T12:48:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T07:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=116442"},"modified":"2026-08-01T12:57:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T07:27:07","slug":"pradhan-mantri-surya-sarovar-yojana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pradhan-mantri-surya-sarovar-yojana\/","title":{"rendered":"Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>About Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a scheme for the <\/span><b>development of Floating Solar Photovoltaic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (FSPV) Projects with <\/span><b>Energy Storage Systems (ESS).<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>Features\u00a0 of Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It envisages the development of <\/span><b>5,000 MW of Floating Solar Photovoltaic projects<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with <\/span><b>co-located Energy Storage Systems<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> having a minimum storage capacity of <\/span><b>two hours i.e.,10,000 MWh.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Time Period:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The projects will be sanctioned during <\/span><b>FY 2026-27 to FY 2030-31,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with disbursement of <\/span><b>financial support continuing up to FY 2032-33.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Financial Assistance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Central Financial Assistance (CFA) <\/span><b>of Rs. One crore per MW<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be provided for <\/span><b>eligible Floating Solar Photovoltaic projects<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after successful commissioning.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition<\/span><b>, CFA of up to Rs.50 lakh per project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be available for undertaking <\/span><b>feasibility studies, including bathymetry and hydrography assessments<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, environmental studies, and other preparatory activities required for de-risking the project development.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Significance of\u00a0 Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It would enhance the floating Solar PV capacity in the <\/span><b>country by 5,000 MW<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is presently around 700 MW only.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It would provide an opportunity to <\/span><b>gainfully utilize existing reservoirs &amp; industrial ponds<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and eliminate competition for scarce land resources.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The integration of an energy storage system will <\/span><b>help strengthen grid reliability.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It would help in the <\/span><b>reduction of around 10 million tonnes of CO\u2082 emissions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> annually.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0It would help in the generation of <\/span><b>approximately 16,000\u201317,000 full-time equivalent employment <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">opportunities across the project value chain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The scheme would also promote domestic manufacturing of floatation systems as well as the entire value chain of the projects.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2292433&amp;reg=48&amp;lang=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana is a scheme for the development of Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) Projects with Energy Storage Systems (ESS).
