The Bill replaces the <\/span><b>135-year-old Bankers\u2019 Books Evidence Act, 1891<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to modernize the legal framework governing the admissibility of bank records as evidence in courts.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Need for Replacing the Bankers\u2019 Books Evidence Act, 1891<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Bankers\u2019 Books Evidence Act, 1891<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was enacted during the colonial period when banking records were maintained in <\/span><b>physical ledgers and registers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. With the rapid growth of <\/span><b>digital banking and electronic transactions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, there was a need for a modern law that reflects current banking practices.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>The 1891 Act was designed for paper-based banking records<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and did not
