{"id":11817,"date":"2023-06-08T02:07:53","date_gmt":"2023-06-07T20:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=11817"},"modified":"2025-03-30T05:38:06","modified_gmt":"2025-03-30T00:08:06","slug":"financial-services-institution-bureau-fsib","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/financial-services-institution-bureau-fsib\/","title":{"rendered":"Financial Services Institution Bureau (FSIB)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About<\/strong> <strong>Financial Services Institution Bureau (FSIB):<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>What is it?<\/strong> It\u2019s a government body set up under the Department of Financial Services (DFI) by replacing the Bank Board\u2019s Bureau (BBB).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Structure:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is headed by a <strong>chairman who<\/strong> is <strong>nominated by the central government<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The board would comprise the <strong>Secretaries of the DFS<\/strong>, the <strong>chairman of IRDAI<\/strong>, and a <strong>deputy governor of the RBI<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Additionally, it will have three part-time members who are experts in banking and three more from the insurance sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The Primary role of FSIB:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>To <strong>identify manpower capabilities<\/strong> and ensure proper selection of talent for senior positions at financial institutions owned by the government.<\/li>\n<li>It is entrusted <strong>with making recommendations for the appointment<\/strong> of full-time <strong>directors and non-executive chairmen<\/strong> of state-run financial services institutions.<\/li>\n<li>The final decision on the FSIB recommendation would be taken by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister.<\/li>\n<li>It would also issue guidelines for <strong>selecting general managers and directors<\/strong> of public sector general insurance companies.<\/li>\n<li>It will also be involved in formulating and <strong>developing business strategies<\/strong> for state-run banks and helping them in their fund-raising plans.<\/li>\n<li>It would also <strong>monitor and assess the performance<\/strong> of <strong>public sector banks<\/strong>, government-owned financial institutions and insurance companies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Insurance?<\/h3>\n<p>Insurance is a contractual agreement between an individual or an entity (the policyholder) and an insurance company (the insurer).
