Built across the mighty <\/span><b>Brahmaputra River in Assam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it connects <\/span><b>Dibrugarh and Dhemaji<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and serves both road and railway traffic. Apart from improving regional connectivity, the bridge has major importance for <\/span><b>trade, tourism and national defence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Bogibeel Bridge History and Location<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The history of the <\/span><b>Bogibeel Bridge<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can be traced to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/assam-accord\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>Assam Accord of 1985<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, under which several infrastructure projects were planned to improve connectivity and development in Assam.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Bogibeel Bridge is 4.94 km long<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, making it one of the longest rail-cum-road bridges in India and an important engineering achievement in the Northeast.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project was <\/span><b>sanctioned by the Government of India in 1997-98<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with the aim of improving transport connectivity across the Brahmaputra and supporting the development of the region.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The foundation stone was laid in <\/span><b>January 1997 by Prime Minister H.
