text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an <\/span><b>active stratovolcano <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">located in <\/span><b>Albay province<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on <\/span><b>Luzon Island<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the <\/span><b>Philippines<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is part of the <\/span><b>Pacific Ring of Fire.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is located on the eastern side of Luzon, <\/span><b>beside the Philippine Trench,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which is the <\/span><b>convergent boundary<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> where the <\/span><b>Philippine Sea Plate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is <\/span><b>driven under the Philippine Mobile Belt.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rising to 2462 m above the Albay Gulf, it is the <\/span><b>Philippines\u2019 most active volcano.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Called the<\/span><b> world\u2019s most perfect volcanic cone<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> because of the<\/span><b> symmetry of its shape,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> it has a base 130 km in circumference and rises to 2,462 metres from the shores of Albay Gulf.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has <\/span><b>steep upper slopes capped by a small summit crater.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Popular with climbers and campers,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the volcano is the <\/span><b>centre of Mayon Volcano National Park.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are <\/span><b>large abaca plantations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on its <\/span><b>lower slopes.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Historical eruptions date back to 1616 CE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that have been characterized by <\/span><b>Strombolian eruptions,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> lava flows, pyroclastic flows, and mudflows.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There have been more than<\/span><b> 30 eruptions recorded since <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1616.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mayon\u2019s <\/span><b>most violent eruption, in 1814,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> killed more than 1200 people and devastated several towns.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;
