{"id":11958,"date":"2023-06-09T03:48:50","date_gmt":"2023-06-08T22:18:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=11958"},"modified":"2025-03-30T06:29:04","modified_gmt":"2025-03-30T00:59:04","slug":"gulabi-meenakari-handicraft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/gulabi-meenakari-handicraft\/","title":{"rendered":"Gulabi Meenakari Handicraft"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Gulabi Meenakari Handicraft:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is one of the rarest crafts in India that is practiced in the bylanes of Varanasi, near Gai Ghat.<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>an art form from Persia<\/strong> and involves <strong>colouring the surface of metals<\/strong> by fusing different colours.<\/li>\n<li>This art <strong>was brought to the city of Varanasi<\/strong> by Persian enamellists <strong>during the Mughal<\/strong> era around the early 17th century.<\/li>\n<li>The word &#8216;mina&#8217; is the feminine form of the Persian word &#8216;Minoo&#8217; and means &#8216;heaven&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>It refers to the azure colour of heaven.<\/li>\n<li>In Varanasi, it is practiced <strong>on jewellery and home decor items.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Minakari work uses very <strong>simple tools like salai<\/strong> (an etching tool), kiln, metal palette, mortar and pestle, <strong>kalam<\/strong> (a tool used to apply enamel), brass dye, small scrubbing brush, forceps and <strong>takala <\/strong>(a needle-like tool to apply colours).<\/li>\n<li><strong>This craft can be found popularly in three forms<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ek Rang Khula Meena<\/strong> in which only gold outlines are exposed and a single transparent colour is used.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Panch Rangi Meena<\/strong> in which the five colours of red, white, green, light blue and dark blue are used<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gulabi Meena<\/strong> in which pink is the dominant colour.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Varanasi <\/strong>is highly popular for Gulabi Minakari.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is handicraft?<\/h3>\n<p>Handicrafts are products that are made by hand using traditional methods and tools.
