{"id":11982,"date":"2023-06-09T01:45:22","date_gmt":"2023-06-08T20:15:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=11982"},"modified":"2025-03-30T06:37:39","modified_gmt":"2025-03-30T01:07:39","slug":"tactical-lan-radio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/tactical-lan-radio\/","title":{"rendered":"Tactical LAN Radio"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Why in News?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>second contract<\/strong> that the Army has firmed up <strong>under the framework of Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>About Tactical LAN Radio:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>state-of-the-art high-bandwidth backhaul wireless radio equipment<\/strong> for the provisioning of <strong>reliable and failsafe communication<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The LAN radio solution offers an <strong>enhanced range of communication<\/strong> and <strong>embedded frequency hopping mechanism<\/strong> to preclude chances of interception.<\/li>\n<li>It provides <strong>long-range point-to-multipoint high-bandwidth communication<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The system also incorporates <strong>enhanced safety features<\/strong> and <strong>can operate continuously for 48 hours <\/strong>on a single-set basis, without any breakdown.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What is What is iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence)?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>flagship initiative of the Ministry of Defence (MoD),<\/strong> launched in April 2018.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aim<\/strong>: To <strong>achieve self-reliance and foster innovation <\/strong>and technology development <strong>in Defence and Aerospace by engaging Industries<\/strong> including MSMEs, start-ups, individual innovators, R&amp;D institutes <strong>and academia.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>iDEX has <strong>partnered with leading incubators<\/strong> in the country <strong>to provide handholding, technical support and guidance<\/strong> to the winners of iDEX challenges.<\/li>\n<li>iDEX <strong>will be funded and managed by a \u2018Defence Innovation Organization (DIO)\u2019<\/strong> which has been formed as a \u2018<strong>not for profit company<\/strong> as per Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013 <strong>by the two founder members, i.e. Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) &#8211; HAL &amp; BEL.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>iDEX will<\/strong> <strong>function as the executive arm of DIO<\/strong>, carrying out all the required activities, while DIO will provide high-level policy guidance to iDEX.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Under iDEX, <strong>financial support is provided to Start-ups<\/strong>\/MSMEs\/individual innovators <strong>and Partner Incubators through DIO.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1)\u00a0What is LAN?<\/h3>\n<p>A local area network (LAN) is a collection of devices connected together in one physical location, such as a building, office, or home.
